I am concerned about Korea recently especially because the danger of war and the prospects of a peaceful settlement are both higher today than at any previous time during my lifetime. I studied the Korean War in depth as part of my undergraduate and graduate studies and also Korean political economy and business relations during the Japanese occupation and postwar South Korean development policies. I traveled to South Korea numerous times, including most recently in 2017 as a guest of the government for discussions with officials from several ministries and the Bank of Korea.
